Sea Cliff Cottage Reviews

Beautiful cottage in a stunning location . A really wonderful few days in very comfortable stylish surroundings with thoughtful extras.Definatley would recommend abd stay again .
Robert
What a wonderful quirky place to stay. Felt at home from the minute we got there to the minute we left, There has been a lot of thought gone into the detail of the house in regards to the guests wellbeing. Loved the history of the house and the Church next door. My only gripe not with the accommodation was the lack of places to walk the dog. Not allowed on or near the beach even in March. The local holiday site were constantly reminding us not to go near the beach even though it was empty. Would not go back with a dog.
What a great stay. We couldn't have asked for a more comfortable stay and the extra touches were a lovely surprise.
Melvyn
Great place to stay, comfortable and equipped fantastically. Road down to village and cottage could be a challenge for some I suspect.
Joy Helen
Property was great and Claire was wonderful. She was so friendly & helpful. Welcome pack was one of the best we'd ever seen. Property was cosy, spotless and very well equipped. Sofas and bed were extremely comfortable we weren't waking up until 8am each day going back to work will be a shock! We didn't use the hot tub as the weather was OK so we were out a lot in the day. Some great walks on the doorstop & the pub was good. Might be useful for the property description to include details that there's steps down to the bathrooms wasn't a problem for us, but could be for elderly or less mobile people who need to go to the bathroom in the night. We had a fantastic time at Sea Cliff and would definitely book it again. Lovely to meet you Claire just before we left
Absolutly beautiful. ..garden is mega steep but so pretty. Shame no dogs o beach but village and scenery smashing. Ship inn yummy. We had wonderful weather, sea glass hunting fab, beaches lovely. The cottage is wonderfully equiped with lovely chap arriving with sausages and bacon! Clean, warm and super comfy beds. We had a great week!
Fantastic cottage very clean, very comfortable. Claire was very helpful with key information
Charlie
Lovely stay in a charming property. Great location to explore.
Jonathan
Smart and stylish property. Very comfortable living areas and well stocked kitchen, with clever use of small spaces mind you head!. Some stuff needs minor sorting, information folders falling apart etc. Access to the upper terraces with the hottub and bbq areas can be tricky and this would be difficult for the elderly or those with small children, but they are very pleasant. There is a lower area beyond the parking area with a gas fired bbq or outdoor cooker as I call them which we didn't really use. Lovely provisions in the hampers and the housekeeper Claire was very helpful.

Fabulous few nights weather amazing enjoyed the hot tub just a shame the outside ... Fabulous few nights weather amazing enjoyed the hot tub just a shame the outside lights did not work luckily it was light until late beautiful little village very good dog friendly pub serving good food a huge thanks for the hamper best welcome pack we have ever received fresh local produce dressing gowns nice touch and needed for hot tub all in all perfect
Victoria
Overall, cottage was beautiful and the one small issue we had when there was resolved super quickly which was fantastic service. As others have mentioned , hot tub was impossible to heat to 30 degrees. Went through lots of logs and hours of time to try and get it to temp but could not use it as not warm enough. Very steep steps to garden at back , some steps felt loose and some of lights in garden had no bulbs working so that is why facilitates scored slightly lower.
Victoria
The property was just as nice as the pictures, very cosy and comfortable. The food bits that were left bacon, milk, sausages, butter, bread, Prosecco etc were a real treat, and kept us fed for days! We enjoyed the hot tub, we just did one evening and a day, as it does use a lot of wood, but it felt like a real treat on a sunny evening. The bedrooms have stunning views and are light and spacious. The cottage is perfectly positioned, for coastal walks and the beach, with a local Nisa which sells wood nearby as well as cafes and a good pub! We really enjoyed our stay.
Michael
Very clean, comfortable and well equipped holiday cottage. We especially loved the cinema room and the welcome pack. As dog owners, the location was perfect for a winter holiday on the costal path, directly above the beach and 5 mins walk to the Pentewan Valley Trail. The only thing to be aware of is that its a sharp angle to get in and out the driveway, if coming uphill from the village needs a three point turn on the road which was very quiet in Feb or reversing in and out.

5 stars for Sea Cliff cottage. We stayed at this beautiful cottage for a week at the end of December 24 and into the New year. It was to celebrate our youngest daughters 18th birthday. Claire went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed, even offered us an extra free night. The hamper was amazing and the cottage was perfect. Such comfy beds and sofas. We enjoyed many walks and the local pub was fantastic. Would recommend 100 staying at this beautiful cottage. Thank you so much for a lovely holiday.
A lovely property, loved the cinema room and the arrival hamper was a really nice touch. Beds were really comfortable and ample bathrooms for ease and comfort. Very well equipped. Only downside was the time we had to invest in heating hot tub, it took 7 hours and lots of manning, we couldnt go out because we needed to check the fire. Bit disappointing as our kids expected to be in it every day and we only went in once.

The holiday started by talking to Claire the housekeeper 3 days before the holiday start date, she was lovely, really helpful with suggestions of places to visit. The cottage was fabulous, comfortable, homely, well equipped. Spending each days on the different levels of garden makes it feel as though you have visited different places steep steps but the up and down is the same as the Cornish coastline, the verandah gives another area and allows you to meet walkers on the coastal path and the friendly neighbours. The cinema room was just the icing on the cake and we had date night as even popcorn was supplied. Claire supplied a yummy hamper all supplied by a local farm shop and was always at the end of the phone for any queries fabulously helpful. Coastal walks from the door, but we aware that dogs are not allowed on the beach in Pentewen between March and November. Coastal walk to Mevigessey 2 miles and catch the bus back is really easy, bus from the village to Heligan Gardens or hire a bike from the village and finally The Ship pub in the village was really friendly, good food and served Proper Job ale so hubby Really good holiday, memories made fabulous cottage, but special thanks to Claire, having a house keeper who knows the area, is helpful and willing to share knowledge adds the sparkle.
Thank you so much, this was a treasure of a find for us to visit Cornwall. A listed cottage full of history and gracefully restored. Every modern facility and equipment provided for. The location is fantastic worth every penny paid for the views alone. There were gorgeous treats in the hamper and other treats, a lovely welcome on arrival. Thank you Claire for promptly and courteously helping with the few glitches we had. For the owner I would just say that it would be helpful to review the documented guest guidance instructions e.g there were no bath robes or towels for outside use at the hot tub as stated. Although very quickly resolved as there are indoor robes and towels provided which we were allowed to use. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.
We loved staying in this unusual and comfortable house. Great decor annd furniture. Even in April the warm sun on the front terrace was just lovely for a sundowner. Its a great base and easy to get around from the location. The beach in Pentewen is gorgeous , the Pentewen trail is flat and easy to walk for all abilities. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are a short drive. Claire was very friendly and helpful.
Lovely cottage. Quirky, like many older properties, particularly in Cornwall, but well appointed, beautiful views and picturesque setting. Pentewan is a lovely village and benefits from a good pub, a local shop, proximity to the coastal path, excellent beaches, and amenities supermarkets etc at St. Austell. Nothing not to like about the cottage but if I had a choice I would love a more comfortable sofa in the living room. Be aware of the many steep steps to the upper terrace which means you get the great views, and access to the hot tub which is fab and kept my husband usefully occupied for several hours he loved it! but it does take some attention and time to heat
Michael
Absolutely perfect! The property was immaculate and included everything we needed for an incredibly relaxing and comfortable week. Claire was brilliant very responsive and helpful when we had a few little queries. We won't hesitate to book again the next time we want to stay in a beautiful, well equipped property within minutes of a lovely beach im Cornwall.
Stephen
A fantastic break, very relaxed. The cottage was stunning and in a perfect location for dog walks and a pint. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The best holiday rental in pentewan. The house is beautiful. Such care and attention to detail. Really clean, with lots of luxurious touches such as underfloor heating in the bathrooms, the beautifully designed cinema room, and the hot tub of course. The location is stunning, with views for miles, access to the coast path, local beach & a great pub! So good to have the dog with us too. Everyone we met were incredibly friendly and happy to suggest restaurants, explain local history etc. Special mention to Claire the housekeeper who was super accommodating especially when we locked ourselves out and helped with things to do locally, eateries etc. oh and the hamper is to die for! I cant think of anything to fault it.. if youre in pentewan, stay here you wont be disappointed.
This was a great property we really enjoyed our stay. Wed certainly recommend this place to rent for your Cornwall holiday. The facilities were excellent the best I think weve ever had from a holiday rental and also the location, which was great.
We had a wonderful holiday. The cottage is beautiful and well equipped. Set in beautiful Pentewan. Welcome pack is lovely and full of Cornish goodies. Claire very responsive to our needs. Only downside is the difficulty to access if you drive up hill to cottage as you are unable to turn on to the terrace, you have to go much further up turn round and come back. Having said that we plan to return.
The property is so beautiful and set in amazing views. On arrival the house was spotlessly clean. We have never stayed in such a well equipped house and the decor and furnishings were of a high standard. We would definitely recommend to friends and family.
It was a lovely cottage and everything was there it was perfect. It was clean and comfortable. It is well looked after by Claire, the hamper was perfect as well.
Kathryn
What a beautiful place. Everything you need for a quiet relaxing holiday.
Cordelia
Good location and well equipped kitchen and house.
Enjoyed our stay overall however we felt the property had a few maintenance issues and attention to detail missing that really should be there on a five star rating property and at a price that is being charged. The initial WOW factor was soon tarnished by varying issues that have been fed back to the owner. We were disappointed. Nice area to stay, and good position to visit Mevagissey, Port Isaac and Padstow. Lost gardens of Helligan are wonderful and well worth a visit. The Ship Inn is a nice pub and food and wine were good.
Disappointed with your description of the property for starters ! 1 Garden is horrendous and to access and therefore we didnt use it ! 2 Access to the gravel lane is also quite scary we had to actually hold up traffic to manoeuvre in and out of the gravel lane ! 3 Carpet gripper is penetrating the carpet because the landing carpet is so thin and we had to put a towel over the bathroom landing access so our feet werent being constantly scraped I actually cut the back of my heel on another exposed gripper coming down stairs 4 House looks shabby and is in need of some TLC mould in both bathrooms 5 Various people wandered through our back patio garden area and left the side gate open, we wanted a secure garden area because we had our dog with us and wasnt aware of public access quite embarrassing as I was in my nightdress one morning and a man appeared in our garden from around the corner ! Overnight the outside lights were constantly turning on and off and disturbed our sleep, I couldnt see a way of turning them off ! Overall we were very disappointed
Christina
The cottage is so inviting and well equipped. We felt at home straight away. This is our 2nd visit to this property, and we have already booked to come again next year! Claire is very gifted at hospitality, leaving treats for our stay and making us feel very welcome. She answers any queries very quickly and gave us good recommendations of places to eat. The hot tub was a real bonus, and we enjoyed relaxing in the lovely hot water at the top tier of the garden, overlooking the lovely countryside and sunset. We slept so well on the comfy super king size bed, and enjoyed eating breakfast on the front porch, greeting the walkers who passed by. Walking down to the beach was a daily must, which only took a few minutes down some steps at the end of the road. The property is in a very good location for visiting nearby pretty harbours of Mevagissey and Charlestown. Thank you again for providing us with such a lovely restful holiday!
Sharon
The cottage and everything in it was absolutely fabulous! Fantastic fixtures and fittings and beautifully decorated. There was nothing that we needed that wasnt there. The welcome pack was out of this world definitely the best weve ever had at a holiday cottage. The only disappointment was the time it takes to heat up the hot tub because it is a woodfired hot tub you need to stay with it, and it takes several hours.
Stephanie
We had a really nice holiday at Sea Cliff Cottage with a great welcome box of goodies and extra treats on arrival. The cottage was ideally situated for the local beach and amenities, the Ship Inn food is very good, but there is a steep hill back to the cottage from the village. Claire the Housekeeper is lovely, helpful and responsive when contacted. We must mention James I believe he is the maintenance man who was so helpful on the morning we were leaving thank you. Very friendly neighbours and in the village. The rear garden has great views from both terraces, is private and quiet but is really very steep to access. The eco hot tub is a force to be reckoned with! We tried several times to 'fire' it up and eventually sadly admitted defeat, but other reviews have enjoyed a HOT tub so perhaps it was us!! Overall we all had an enjoyable time in this cosy cottage.
Melanie
Lovely cottage, very well equipped, but would appreciate a teapot as mugs quite small! Standard of cleaning fell a little short in the lounge, lots of hair and crumbs on the cow hide under the foot rest. Mouldy blind in small bathroom. Overall looked a little tired. But welcome hamper best we have ever had. None of the above would stop us coming back, just constructive feedback to help you keep your 5 star rating.
Jackie
Lovely cottage in a great part of Cornwall Fabulous welcome hamper Lots of ... Lovely cottage in a great part of Cornwall Fabulous welcome hamper Lots of different places to sit out The views from the top garden are amazing
Jennifer
Sea Cliff Cottage is a really charming and comfortable that put us in a relaxed holiday mood immediately. There was a lovely welcome hamper waiting for us. It's right on the SW coastal path and in a very sheltered position. There is a great pub and cake shop a few minutes walk away. We can highly recommend this property. We really did not want to leave!!
What a wonderful stay we had! Everything has been thought of to keep the whole family entertained and comfortable. Such a warm welcome from the hamper to the chocolates on our pillows to the popcorn and Prosecco in the cinema room! Claire is just a message away and was so helpful and friendly! We will definitely be back for another stay and would recommend to anyone!
The cottage & location was super. Spacious and well equipped with a scrumptious welcome hamper. Claire the property manager was very friendly, helpful and responsive. Lots to do in the area, great local pub, walks from the door.
